The Med is bringing the warmth and richness of Mediterranean cuisine to Amsterdam’s bustling city centre. Opened in 2024, our journey began with a clear vision: to become a go-to destination for premium sandwiches like no other.
Our sandwiches are made with sourdough and baked in authentic Pala Romana style. Rectangular in shape to match the dimensions of the shovel used to put the bread in the oven, the Pala Romana flatbread is baked directly on the oven stone for its signature crunch. Each sandwich is made on the spot and stuffed with the best ingredients, that are fresh and seasonal, locally sourced and artisanally made.
We use natural sourdough yeasts and pre-ferments, with a total fermentation time of up to 72 hours, and we avoid using highly refined flour and additives. Instead, we use premium flour, sourced directly from Italy, which is more nutritious and has more flavour. Kneaded and shaped by hand, our bread is light, fluffy, crispy, and easy to digest.
